Colts lose 2nd Game of the Season to Canadore

Colts lose 2nd Game of the Season to Canadore

This past weekend the 5-1 MBB took on the 3-4 Canadore Panthers. The team travelled to North Bay for their first game of the swing series. The Colts were coming off of an impressive win beating GBC 77-66 last weekend. The Colts are currently 4th on the OCAA men's basketball rankings.

The first quarter was completely one sided. The Panthers jumped all over the Colts leading 30-13. At the half the Colts kicked their way back into contention but still trailed 45-37.  Coach Challenger knew his team could muster a come-back as they have done so many times previously this season. But as the 3rd quarter came to a close the Colts we're still down by 11 points 64-53. The Panthers were lighting it up, they couldn't miss, everything they put up was going in.

In the 4th the Colts pushed the pace to tried to continue to chip away at the panthers 11 point lead. Key steals by 5th year player AC and 2nd year guard Josh McFarlane brought the Colts back within 5.  But the Panthers forwards Tarez Hepburn and sharp shooter Jake Rae had back to back scores. With 3 mintues to go and down 10 points the Colts big man Curic nailed two 3 pointers to bring the Colts back within 6. Unfortunately, the Colts ran out of gas and lost 82-78. The Colts were led by their 3 captains, Marko Curic 21 pts, 9rbs, 3blks, Alex Hagoriles "AC" 8pts, 2ast, 4rbs, and Paul Walwyn "LC" 12pts, and 4rbs.

The next game for the team is tomorrow where the 5-2 Colts will not take on the 3-3 Georgian Grizzlies in Barrie.
