Colts Men Aim to Stay Hot in Home Opener vs. Phoenix

SCARBOROUGH, ON – The Centennial Colts men's soccer team returns to action tonight for their home opener against the Fleming Phoenix at 8:15 PM on Colts Sports Field.

The Colts began their season with a 4–1 road win over the Lakehead Orillia Thunderwolves, but the performance left room for improvement. Lakehead capitalised on a defensive and goalkeeping lapse to grab an early lead, leaving Centennial frustrated to concede such a soft goal. Instead of panicking, however, the Colts showed resilience, storming back with four unanswered goals to seal the victory.

That comeback was fueled by a brilliant outing from Dante Forte, who played a hand in multiple goals. Forte first combined with Adam Othman to level the match at 1–1, before returning the favour with a pinpoint cross in the 51st minute that Othman buried to give Centennial the lead. From there, the Colts never looked back. Rookie striker Frank Andreacchi added a composed penalty to extend the advantage, while fellow newcomer Evan Murrell capped things off with a dazzling unassisted strike in the 77th minute. The mix of veteran leadership and instant rookie impact bodes well for the season ahead.

Their opponents tonight, the Fleming Phoenix, enter winless after two losses to start their campaign. On paper, it's a favourable matchup for Centennial, who currently sit 7th in Ontario, but the Colts know they cannot afford to underestimate any side in a deep and competitive OCAA East Division.

After falling in last year's quarterfinals to eventual champion Humber, Centennial is determined to push further this season. Tonight's home opener is a chance to sharpen their play, put on a show for the home crowd, and continue building momentum.

Kickoff: 8:15 PM – Centennial Colts vs. Fleming Phoenix at Progress Campus (Colts Sports Field)
