It has been a tough season for the COLTS Men's Varsity Soccer Team who were only able to find one win in preseason and one win all season long. The team struggled on the field trying to find a win in numerous games. The men were down, but not out.
This last game of the season saw the Centennial Colts fall to the Fleming Knights by a score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Fleming's Mitchell McKenzie who scored off of a free kick just outside the Colts penalty area after being awarded a free kick. Taejon Mikel-Ryan made a hard tackle and fouled the Fleming attacker which setup the free-kick and the goal for Fleming which came at the 25-minute mark of the game. The Colts were not without their opportunities to get on the score board early with chance after change missed. Their best opportunity came in the 30 minute just after Fleming netted one when Ashton Vaz blasted one in and the Knights keeper Danny Grant turned away the shot then the colts hit the rebound which was cleared on the Knights goal line. Another rebound was placed back in and cleared again which came back to Kareem Marzouk, who's shot was turned away one final time. This was what was to come as the colts failed to find the net.
The Colts took 24 shots while the Knights turned away 8. While the knights took only 15 shots while the Colts Keeper Nico Koutroubis made 3 saves. The team fought valiantly to finish out the season and will now look to rebuild in the off season to get ready for the Indoor which starts in January. The Team ended the season wit ha record of 1W-9L with 11 GF & 28GA. The team will continue to train and play exhibition matches to keep the team sharp to aid in the preparation of the coming indoor season which begins in January.
